Manitoba Magazines are innovative, engaging, informative, and controversial. They receive national and international awards for writing and design. They are part of a growing cultural industry in Manitoba.

From award winning national publications such as The Beaver, Border Crossings and SAY magazine; to widely read and highly acclaimed arts and literary publications such as Prairie Fire, and CV2; to sport and hobby publications such as Horse Country, Manitoba Gardener, and Canadian Railway Modeller; to local lifestyle and leisure publications such as Winnipeg Men/Winnipeg Women and The Cottager; to the wide variety of special interest publications such as Geez, Outwards Inc., Herizons and Northroots; these are just a few of the many Manitoba magazines that are yours to discover. And best of all, our participating members are offering special Magazine Month subscription rates!

Magazine Month begins October 1st at Portage Place with the distribution of member magazine samples and the opportunity to take the Manitoba Magazine Quiz to win great prizes. Members of the Manitoba Magazine Publishers’ Association will be in centre court until October 5th.

Manitoba Magazines will also be found in many favourite local coffee shops throughout October.

Another month-long activity is the Get Caught Reading a Manitoba Magazine event. Readers are invited to submit a photo of themselves or others reading a Manitoba magazine. To enter, readers just send in photos to: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . All appropriate entries will be posted on www.manitobamagazines.ca. All entries will be eligible to win prizes.

What does it take to publish a magazine? What are the industry opportunities? Anyone interested can learn from the experts at a free panel presentation, Thursday, October 23 in the Carol Shields Auditorium at the Millennium Library beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Subscription information, contest rules, weekly prize winners, photos of folks reading Manitoba Magazines and information on the diverse selection of made in Manitoba titles can all be found at www.manitobamagazines.ca.
